I - 693  (Report of Medical Examination and

Vaccination Record)

A medical exam is necessary to ensure that you are healthy enough to be eligible to adjust your status to admissible to the United States on a public health grounds in order to apply for a US Green cara.

Applicants filing for a green card must submit USCIS Form I-693 (Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination

Record). This form must be completed by a USCIS-approved civil surgeon  

Your forms will be ready in 2-3 days.

Laboratory test results usually return within 24-48 hours (Monday through

Friday). If the tuberculosis test is positive, a chest x-ray is required, which can add another day or two to the process.

Green card medical examinations are generally valid for 12 months. Individuals that are legal residents but changing status to U.S. citizens may be required to re-take the immigrant medical exam. The medical examination must be completed before you can adjust status or obtain an immigrant

visa.

Proof of treatment or follow up tests must be provided before the application of temporary or permanent residency is approved. Children may be subject to additional immunization requirements.
